SXSW should never cost you that much, ever.

Flying from any hub will be <$200 round trip. Book in advance and you can find cheap rooms (or share a room with other starving founders) and you can do it for <$80/night.

Food is free. There are enough companies sponsoring events with food that you should never, ever have to purchase food- unless you're having a lunch meeting with a potential partner, client, investor, etc.

Booze are free. If you're paying for drinks anywhere- you're wrong.

The people I've met at SXSW have opened doors, landed contracts, moved investment talks forward, and have generally helped more than I could have ever imagined.

The current admins really need to channel their inner anakata for their responses.

Disclaimer: I did contract work for Firebase.

First off, the Firebase team is beyond incredible. The dedication they show to their users and their product vision is unparalleled.

Second, the product is awesome. I can barely throw together a static HTML file without help and now with Firebase I've been able to mash together all kinds of neat little interactive WebGL demos.

As I spend more time developing my programming skills I'm happy knowing that Firebase will be there to help me grow.

Awesome release guys! Congrats!

Majority of that page tells me who the founders are, their business plan, and their investors, but not a whole lot about what they're going to do to help me.

Love it!

Can't wait to use this when I present at conferences.

Gas in Western SD (where I live) is a $2.66/Gallon.

That's not very high.

This looks fantastic! Looking forward to checking this out.

This is a mobile site with a native wrapper- that's why it isn't allowed.

Mobile-wrapper apps are indeed allowed. This one was rejected specifically for "crude" content.

Belongs on Reddit along with the comments here... (including this one)

Throwing around $1B also signals that Microsoft is still around and still acquiring companies.
