This seems like a bit of an overkill. I don't think I'd be happy if programming on a medicine ball for 12 hours a day. You also need a lot of closet space to put this stuff. Seems like a lot of dead weight to me.
I think I've come up with some crazy far out ideas in a mild state of intoxication that I've made realty the next day. It takes down the "That's impossible" wall.

Crazy, you work for Nvidia? I love using CUDA for VRAY rendering. It still lacks a ton of the material support but its getting there. From your development, how much more needs to be added to CUDA and Video Cards to get more accurate renderings with full support of materials? I know VRAY has figured out some amazing ways to get around this and support multisided material recently.
CUDA does not know anything about materials, it's only an API to run code on the GPU and transfer data back and forth from main memory to gpu memory. So it's all up to VRAY devs to implement material rendering with the tools they have available.
As far as I know, there will be no revolutionary changes in GPGPU programming in the immediate near future (apart from badass-er GPUs).
I remember developing in Visual Basic 3 and being able to decompile source code using an amazing program called Dodi (German Developer). I was 13 at the time but it was a scary thought of mine that that anyone could decompile my hours of hard work to re-release the same product in a matter of seconds. I'm happy to see Microsoft still going forward with C# and VB.NET attempts to make their code more open to the web and Microsoft compatible products yet less effort on the developers part. I still use Visual Basic to develop little tools at the speed of light. Not sure too many companies that would go to industry standards but this could be very intriguing.
I think start ups pave the way for initiative products. Start ups don't have to deal with the public sector of large companies getting shareholder approval to move quickly on decisions. This really puts large companies at a disadvantage to start ups. BUT, the one key element that gives big companies the edge is an abundance of capital. Its a cat and mouse game.
