Hello! I believe you are more valuable as a person than the contributions you make through a job. Many people find their self worth through employment, but when you get down to the nuts and bolts of it, employment generally means making money for someone else. This concept of economic slavery causes people who don't fit into the job market to feel like they're not worth their weight.

Your value as a person doesn't have to be defined by your employment. If you open your mind you can find your value as a listener, a thinker, a gardener... whatever.

As a native, I do not know Nashville as a liberal city, but I guess perspectives are all relative.

I more mean that it deviates from the normal southern views. It votes blue more often than not, is quite "metropolitan" and getting more so. Sure Williamson and Rutherford are about as crazy right wing as it gets with that many people around but Davidson is much different. Most of the inane things coming out of the state gov't aren't introduced by Nashville/Davidson reps, heck silly most legislation seems to be because of Stacey Campfield.

Ditto. (Though I mostly grew up a lot farther out in the sticks.) I think what they mean is "the area around Vandy and the recently-gentrified portions of East Nashville are liberalish".

That having been said, the general feel of Nashville has really changed over the past decade.

I used to see it as a "dirty, smelly big city", but it certainly feels more alive now than it used to.

Then again, perhaps a lot of that is the fact that I live somewhere else, and now I go there to visit friends and family.

I live and have lived in the areas people consider solidly red, you'd be surprised how people vote. They just don't wave a moderate or liberal flag like the conservatives do.

Additionally, a lot of the liberal/conservative divide is actually urban vs. rural. Davidson Co. is certainly mostly urban.

I think I just have a skewed perspective of things, as I interact almost entirely with people in the rural parts of TN (which obviously isn't Nashville itself).

I'd like to believe that a phone operator at that level would not have clearance to see that type of information on a whim. I'm not saying its impossible, but if it were that available the Snowden revelations would have occurred much sooner.

More likely the poor operator couldn't answer his question, so she was going to pass the details up to a supervisor and have the supervisor deal with it.

Later when the supervisor got on the phone, she just hung up on him.

You came to that conclusion because you knew that the operators don't ask contact info for every caller as standard procedure?

Most therapy would begin by helping you to recognize the observable events that cause you to escalate your anger and teach you strategies to reroute the course of events in a new direction. For example, I recognize that I am becoming angry when my ears feel hot. I can short circuit that process by deep breathing, counting down from 10, and thinking of someone I care deeply for. Its also important to change your environment when you detect your fuse shortening.
