Completely forgetting that design in of itself is completely subjective and brutalism within a digital space is conveyed in an entirely different way to that of architecture.

This direction of "cool futurism" and turning every HID inside of a car into a giant iPad is only going to continue, I understand the appeal of EVs but physical buttons and less fancy eletrical-based comforts are the reason I will maintain a combustion vehicle until they are outlawed.
I don't actually ever expect this to happen in North America. Have you seen what motorists get away with? Everything from minor issues (mis-aligned headlights, dead brake lights) to major safety issues (tinted front windows preventing eye-contact with the driver, off-road bars on jeeps), to shit that is an easy pull for any cop (missing the required-in-BC front license plate).
We probably end up at the same place though, regardless of which of us is right: I think internal combustion will instead die a slow economic death, as gas stations become less common, the expertise to keep them running evaporates, and parts become harder to source when OEMs are no longer legally required to keep them available
Blackmagicdesign corporation's Davinci Resolve doesn't run on most OSes. So I can't tell you. But I can tell you that openshot allows me to edit videos quickly on linux. I like it.
No it doesn't. It runs on Windows and Mac. With a complex setup of wine or wine derived software you can create a windows compatibility layer and sort of run Davinici Resolve on linux. But just a random distro and random wine won't do it. There are containers like Davincibox Q too. But of course while this is "running" on Linux it is buggy, will have codec problems, and is still not really running on linux. Don't even try if you have an AMD GPU. And every time you reconnect to a new wifi AP it'll make you re-enter your license key, no sound on most linux distros that have ever existed, etc. It's not a good or even decent experience.
I'd beg to differ, I think the idea of reaching pastoral life in suburbia comes down to one's personal perception, I live in suburbia and I for the most part from the outside in would have everything the average person would like for a comfortable life but I am actively looking to scale, happiness comes from retaking ones independence and reducing reliance on the services provided in the comfort of suburbia, supermarkets, grid power etc.
Maintenance is a concern yes, but self perpetuating finances = free time and to quote Socrates - It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Compute already is getting hoarded, the sad part is we're no longer at a point where competition is pushing companies to make more compute available because AI companies can just keep hoarding compute with imaginary money.
The decompilation trend is amazing, everything ranging from N64 games to people reverse engineering componentry on original Xboxes and such; with the world becoming increasingly more bleak from a tech POV, reading these sorts of posts brings a little warmth.
AI for media preservation is an awesome use case; it's great to see people who still care about these things. I feel the mid 2010s were the golden years of app development on Android, at least with all of the cool games people were releasing.
