Well if possible you want an AI that understand the spirit of what you are asking for and will add all the missing stuff, instead of an AI that just want to hack its way to the result. Kinda what Fable brought to the table. For instance as a simple example I ask it to change the text that shows the email of the user by his name and Fable did all the code in case there is the family name missing etc. That this last part you want an AI to do. Helping you to build the system with you and not gaming what you ask for for reward.

Why limit? This is a news website where users judge if something is newsworthy by upvoting it. If the community decides it’s newsworthy it’s newsworthy. Maybe not for you but at least enough people to make it visible in front page. Unless you have strong arguments, like topics creating death threats or people doxing, there is no reason whatsoever to censure any news because you personally doesn’t care or don’t like it and prevent others from accessing it.

HN is curated by moderators and votes are just one input. All sorts of topics get downweighted all the time. Given the longevity of the AI news cycle it's not a crazy ask to suggest it get downweighted too.

And it's "censor", not "censure". To censure AI news would be for Dan and Tom to lodge a formal complaint about it.

It would have been funny a year ago but now I have no issues of that sort or even for more complex tasks

People really believe in this AGI marketing?

It’s not the players we should hate but the ones who make the rules of the game. Specifically not the ones who make the rules for the greater good but for themselves.

So, the players?

No rule makers. Players are not the one making the rules of a game. They just play it.

I would too and I have declined jobs everywhere they used their tech and it was not because they had to. And even then, unless it’s like Google and such I am very reluctant.

Its not fair to say this when we have been chanting how "software is eating the world", or how much we love to "disrupt markets", that we won’t create mass unemployments with our technologies but that "people will transition elsewhere like we always saw", etc etc.. It’s our turn to have our jobs disrupted and now we are surprised? Come on. We don’t have to like but we are the last people who should be surprised. It’s our turn to transition and be prompt writers and do product I guess. Until this is disrupted again in a few years.

Hard truth but true nonetheless. How come we should have it both ways? We removed certain jobs, it’s our turn to have many types of jobs disrupted and have to transition.
