At least back in the day there weren't endless comments about how this widget is load-bearing, and how honestly the other widget carries the derived widget, referencing decision ADR-100 that is nowhere to be found. All these comments matter because once accepted as part of the codebase the next LLM takes these comments as canonical.

The largest problem these days is the volume of code developers are expected to review. The volume went up significantly.

This is the best and worst thing about LLM coding agents. They trust comments way too implicitly. And then the errors just keep compounding.

Or a temporary hack that becomes "load-bearing" because the agent doesn't figure out that it's supposed to be a temporary testing shim - instead it keeps building on it until it basically duplicates what it's mocking.

By far the biggest problem 90% of developers have with AI is that they should be turning off comments, as it's clear that the training data they have is no good for developing a theory of mind for an engineer who has to read them.

I've turned them off and add them myself at review time and am quite happy.

Requiring the coding agent to (try to) iterate on code clarity until comments are no longer necessary, probably doesn't hurt either. Save the commentary for conversation logs, agent Markdown files, and other sorts of documentation.

Same flow as translating from your native tongue to a foreign language.

Going from foreign to native is easier than native to foreign. The latter requires completely different brain paths and a lot more understanding of the language to actually get to something correct.

The value of AI is built on top of the idea that it can erase the cost of labor in a wide range of professions.

They're all racing for this, hoping to make money first, because once that erasure really sets in, there is no-one out there to buy products anymore, which means all those companies who replaced human labor by AI don't have anybody to sell their products to anymore.

And once that happens who is going to be needing all of these tokens?

In the US that's annoying, sometimes they show price per oz, other times price per lbs.

Thankfully I can still log-in with a password & text. But how to reset the passkey? No-one knows.

Edit: I take that back, for some reason they stopped taking the password I used when setting up the account. It's only email or SMS with code verification + birth-date.

I get a lot of these messages via LinkedIn. They say I'm a good candidate for a job, write something, and tell me if I'm interested to apply via <link>. If a recruiter wants a cut, I expect them to work for it. Me filling out a form isn't that.

Unsure if they are real recruiters, or bots. Most of the ones contacted me were based in either Nigeria or Pakistan.

I know it's prejudice, but anytime I click on a Profile and see either of those 2 countries, I immediately hit back and never ever respond/contact that person ever again. It sucks to be an actual good person from those countries, but I don't wanna be scammed

This is not a good defence against being scammed. Like if this is part of your strategy on not getting scammed you should probably go back to the drawing board.

I dont know. If u knew how to fight someone, and defend yourself would you still put yourself in situations where you would need to fight someone? You would avoid them in the first place, and then use it if you absolutely have to

I had issues with the Siri Beta. I would ask it to open the garage door, and often it just... failed.

Un-enrolling from the beta fixed it.

Quite annoying that you need to get the top plan for 5 cameras, and you cannot get more.

I like tinkering with this stuff, everything around me is a perpetual lab, so I have more than 5 cameras that I'd like to hook up to this. But I REALLY don't NEED or WANT 12TB or storage.

I want all of these integrations to be possible locally, without having to send my data to the cloud.

But I cannot. A lot of these nice integrations aren't offered for fully-local setups.

I wonder if this will change how often people in the USA change their oil.

Comparing BMWs (which are worldwide cars), the oil change intervals in Europe are literally 2x what they are in the USA.

E.g. my previous 2019 M240i (B58 i6):

Europe: every 30,000km or 2 years, whatever comes first.

USA: every 15,000km (~9,000 miles) or 1 year, whatever comes first.

I get that fuel is dirtier in the USA. I get that engines work harder in the USA because of the heat, but a 2x reduction in lifetime?

And this is applicable to ALL the BMWs I've seen.
