App release reviews take at least 1 week now. They take 15% of revenue and I had to pay $25 to create an account. And I'm sure I spent more hours on setting up my business + bank account, dun's number, google account creation & verification, app listing configuration/verification and only then getting to the review stage. My first round took exactly 1 month from having a signed app release on my laptop ready to go to it showing publicly on the store.

My build was ready like for a month and all that was stopping me is the requirement for the 12 testers being active for 14 days. When I applied to both stores, I thought apple is gonna be a problem, but google is a bigger unmovable wall
Mine is in a company capacity, not personal capactiy, so according to their ui, i can immediately send for review without internal testing. But that review step is the one that is currently slow on their side.
Adding to this- Apple charges me $138 per year membership and the latest app took 3 weeks for review. Used to be very fast before (under 24 hours) but lately it's very long for new apps.
are you a well known business or submitting your very first app? its anecdotal, but it seems to me from experience at a couple companies is that apple/google are quick to review even new apps from established companies...
Ive heard that but not sure if true. I've been building and submitting apps for 15 years and have multiple approved and maintained apps in the store. (I am the developer of Hack, one of top hacker news clients on iOS and Android).
Do tell why the downvotes? It actually works. When you tell it to adopt a certain style, just be sure to also tell it not to change the core truth of the output, it must still convey the original intent. It is surprisingly good at outputting Warhammer styles, which is very enjoyable in a dev environments or system admin sessions. Also put on some warhammer soundtrack in the background and you can easily zone in.
I have no idea, I just live in my terminal at this point, on linux. Don't use Visual Studio or Jetbrains products anymore at all. I use visual studio code to view the occasional diff and run sql queries. Other than that, zero desktop apps, just terminal & cli tooling. Its great! I have about 20 terminals open at any given time though. I have no idea how some of my colleagues stay productive as they are messing around with all these workflow tools, desktop apps etc.
Yup. I'm also working more and more in a terminal typing English sentences to my computer. It looks like a very smart adventure game UI from the 80s.
A little git log, show, diff almost always in another terminal.
A customer of mine wants to standardize his developers on a Jetbrains IDE for python but I think that he is late by one year. Furthermore he is using the subsidized plans for Claude, not paying for token, so it makes sense to keep using the Claude TUI.
Doing the same more or less, replacing vscode for vim. Usually three/four panes open, one codex running in a container so it doesn't share my host filesystem, one pane for git diffs/git, one for general shelling and one for neovim basically. One of these per project/task/worktree I'm working on, usually 1-2, maximum 3 at the same time.
Not sure what all the other folks are doing, but the industry/ecosystem tends to over-engineer every single thing instead of just working on the thing, while I just want proper code, proper design/architecture, and proper high-quality results.
It's kinda true. I use the terminal approach too, but I wouldn't trust every type of user with this long of a leash. There's a place for instituting systems that share context, manage authentication, and is permissions-aware.
A friend of mine runs a web agency company (you know, the oldskool wordpress dev shop). Clients from almost all industries, some very high traffic & publicly visible (think magazines). About two years ago they recommended all their clients remove random ads (primarily via Adsense) as they were injecting crypto-scams and porny/gaming ads for trashy site/apps on sites where they really shouldn't be. Some clients completely dropped it just fine (meaning, no replacement ad engine), while the bigger clients are using purely targeted/specified ads where they know the brand being advertised, typically from within in their own industries, and no more random ads being shown. People are fed up with ads/Adsense. Just the the stuff kids see while playing mobile games are atrocious.
PayShap in South Africa, not sure if it is being attacked yet. I use it a couple of times a week. It's awesome & better than EFT's, enables cheap instant transfer even between banks. It's not a third party private company either, its offered by the reserve bank / bankserv.
I think it is to reduce the amount of cash in circulation, get visible on small transfers and to relieve the EFT clearing houses.
In my country on my specific credit card, I get back about 1.5% of my spend through the card. Over the last five years I've banked for free, but not just that: I get back about 5x to 8x my bank fees alone. That doesn't count all sorts of promo's/discounts through their partners. As an example, my bank has a deal the past year with one of our major pharmacy chains and I get a ton of discounts when I use my card there (they ask at tills if I'm paying with the card), that is on top of normal in-store promos. So the "game" is very much worth it to play in my situation. Funny enough, they charge a flat fee for international transactions and 0% currency conversions, and they use MasterCard, which means free travel insurance. Its an amazing bank. Typically the bank is known to target rural/informal to middle class customers, but they have quite a few wealthier clients which feels like the best kept secret.

Those parties exists for a reason, a response to certain pressures. Nothing happens in isolation. If you zoom out a bit and if you can for a second try to empathize with both sides, you will often find that both sides of an issue is correct, reasonable & rational from their own perspectives. It is often more an emotional response than one of pure survival.
The more you force things on people or suppress them, the more they will resist & push back. The rise of the far-right is not random or just pure evil manifesting out of thin air. It is like a acute inflammatory/immune system response. Obviously it can be exploited by bad actors to further inflame/divide & accelerate certain agendas. Often times extremism takes hold when certain justices are denied (which is in fact evil).
Life is best if you assume the guy on the other side (90% of a group) is just a bro trying to survive & have no real bad intent towards you, they don't know you or have been in your shoes, and the other way around too. Thus it is very important to become non-reactive, become observant who is trying to stoke the flames, who benefits from the chaos and so on.
My internet is rock solid and super fast, extra low latencies. OpenWRT shapes my traffic to 90% of line speeds, so zero bufferbloat on my end. All my devices connect to this setup. The proxmox box is just an old dual core mini-pc with 8gb ram and 2x 1gbps NIC's and a wifi 6 module for 2.3gbps wireless (only 5Ghz, no 2.4Ghz). I want to replace this box with a new one to get 2.5gb ethernet & better power efficiency as my box is a 51W cpu, but total powerdraw is about 20w without causing wifi to drop. Aggressive power saving can make wifi unstable.
